Laser-induced Branch Retinal Vein Occlusion (BRVO)

Introduction

Laser and photosensitizer are used to cause formation of plugs in retinal vein that lead to non-perfusion area, vascular leakage, macular edema, retinal ischemia, neovascularization and so on. This model can be used to evaluate the efficacy of various drugs.

Fig. Non-perfused area and vascular leakage are observed immediately after laser photocoagulation.
